What CRICOS is
CRICOS stands for the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. It is the official Australian register of the education providers and the specific courses that are approved to enrol international students studying on a student visa.
For a registered training organisation that takes international students, CRICOS registration sits alongside its other obligations. The provider and its courses must be listed, and there are expectations around how students are enrolled, supported and reported on. That adds detail to the data an RTO has to keep accurate, because international-student records carry their own requirements in addition to the general training activity an RTO reports.
CRICOS is distinct from AVETMISS. CRICOS is the register that approves providers and courses for international students, while AVETMISS is the data standard used to report vocational training activity. An RTO may need to work with both.
CRICOS in the Cohiva platform
Cohiva Campus is a student management system and learning management system for Australian RTOs. It supports CRICOS and government-funded providers, and it is built around a data-driven AVETMISS and NAT compliance engine.
Campus is designed to help your RTO keep accurate records and meet its reporting obligations across the different student types it serves. To see how it works, explore Campus.
